BA Events Management offers a practical approach to the successful management of a wide range of events. Experiences are at the heart of this degree so you will get to plan and deliver an event every year. There are numerous opportunities throughout the course for you to engage in work placements, project work and to network with successful events businesses. Our links with industry provide you with opportunities to gain valuable work experience alongside your studies.

International Tourism Management offers a wide range of employment opportunities and careers both nationally and internationally, from multi-national to local organizations, from world heritage destinations to national parks. This course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of tourism employers and to provide you with the qualifications and skills necessary for real-world success giving you a distinct advantage in an increasingly competitive careers market.

The three year single honors programmes at undergraduate level are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between Stages Two and Three of study. If you meet the entry criteria, and choose to take up a placement year you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your career. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.

Undergraduate Events, Tourism and Hospitality Programmes

You will cover the following course themes: event logistics and operations management, risk management, health and safety, strategic management and business decision making for events, event communications (marketing, PR, sponsorship and digital), event project management, stakeholder management and communications, mega-events, sustainability, event impacts.

Throughout BA International Tourism Management you are encouraged to develop a critical understanding of tourism business theory combined with a proactive business development approach throughout the course.

BA International Tourism Management Top Up is designed to enable holders of HND/FdA Travel and Tourism Management qualifications to gain a full honours degree in one year. It is accredited by the Tourism Management Institute (TMI) and the Tourism Society, the professional bodies for tourism management in the UK.

BA Live Event Production Top Up enables you to experience the responsibilities of delivering a live event whilst studying theory and techniques, allowing you to put your learning to practice.

HND Travel and Tourism Management is linked to professional body requirements, and offers you a strong, sector related emphasis on practical skills development alongside the development of your knowledge and understanding. This qualification is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to ensure future employability in the travel and tourism industry.

MA International Hotel Management (Non-Placement) is designed to support your aspirations to be the next generation of international hotel managers, through an interactive learning experience that emphasises industry engagement.

The industry placement enables you to develop your skills and knowledge in a real-world work environment, whilst completing an applied research project.

MSc International Special Events Management (Non-Placement) is a unique course placing a strong emphasis on design thinking and creativity as the underpinning for the planning and management of special events. As part of a diverse cohort, you will develop a holistic understanding of the important factors influencing the successful delivery of special events in an international context.

The industry placement enables you to develop your skills and knowledge in a real-world work environment, whilst completing an applied research project.

MA International Tourism Development (Non-Placement) will give you a substantial theoretical and practical understanding of the role and contribution of the tourism industry in the context of international development. You will gain the skills required to manage sustainable tourism businesses, alongside the specialisms of strategic destination management, managing tourism post-conflict and crisis and the strategic use of events for urban destinations.

The industry placement enables you to develop your skills and knowledge in a real-world work environment, whilst completing an applied research project.

The minimum English language requirements for all International and EU students are:

  • Bachelor’s degrees: IELTS 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each band (or equivalent)

  • Masters degrees: IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each band (or equivalent)

  • Postgraduate research degrees: IELTS 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in each band (or equivalent)
